Victor Perton’s 2024 New Year Optimism and Joy

As we bid farewell to 2023 and welcome the New Year, I extend my heartfelt wishes for a cheerful celebration and a splendid 2024, brimming with joy and optimism. Reflecting on the past year, my partnership with The Art and Science of Joy has deeply enriched my life. It enhanced my ability to cherish each joyful moment, from the vibrant flowers in my garden to the enchanting fragrance of roses mingling with the sea breeze to the simple joys of good conversation and appreciative inquiry.

I am deeply grateful to many people for supporting my work and passion as "That Optimism Man" and our Centre for Optimism. As we enter 2024, I am enthusiastic to continue sharing our insights and wisdom, providing people with the tools to be more infectiously optimistic to benefit themselves, their families, friends and the community. I will be advocating for a life abundant in optimism and joy.

One irritation during 2023 was the ever-growing self-pitying Australia and the expression "Australians are doing it hard." Of course, some Australians are "doing it hard" through illness, tragedy, natural catastrophe and failure. However, Australia remains one of the most prosperous and safe countries.

The scarcity mentality in water, energy and food security is limiting our growth potential, and we see it in the widely-published data on declining national productivity, declining education standards and a doubling of prescriptions for anti-depression drugs.

I will advocate for an abundance mentality to replace scarcity thinking, fear and anxiety.

May your 2024 be filled with countless joyful moments, the warmth of life's simple pleasures and optimism.
