Cheryl Hammer's Optimism

Cheryl Hammer's Optimism (Shared in a LinkedIn Post)

Those who know me know I thrive on challenging myself.
👍They also know I am an optimist.
.
My most recent challenge was on the weekend, a 30 km walk (more like an obstacle course) in cold, wet and horrendously windy conditions along a rugged coastline and it came at a time when my friend Victor Perton, “that Optimistic Man,” had asked if I would pen a current piece on what makes me optimistic.
.
I was on the walk with many others in support of a little boy, Leo, who has been diagnosed with Duchenne Syndrome, a terrible disease that attacks all his muscles - there is no cure.
.
Not much to be positive about, you say, but the turnout for the awareness and fundraising walk was heartwarming, and the young family was overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and collective grit of all walkers. They described it as a step closer to finding a cure; I felt emotional and also realistically optimistic.

So while my calves screamed at me at the prospect of another stair climb, my usually reliable inner voice resolved to tackle some of my own immediate weighty decisions with quiet optimism. I permit myself to celebrate my positive mindset.

What about you?
.
PS. Victor does this count?
