"Optimism is indispensable!" That's what Vitaliy Kim, the governor of Ukraine’s Mykolaiv region told The Wall Street Journal's Yaroslav Trofimov.

The Centre for Optimism's Hour of Optimism series has included many exuberant public sessions and also included a private session for the Afghan community in the aftermath of the Taliban takeover.

Our Ukraine members have told us that the best thing we can do as experts on optimism is help keep the flame of optimism alive for Ukraine.

So we will host an hour of optimism for Ukraine.  The Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations is our partner with The Centre for Optimism and Project Optimism: All proceeds will go to the reputable Ukraine Crisis Appeal.

We'll open with expressions of optimism from
Stefan Romaniw OAM, Chairman of the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations, who will join us from Poland;  The Australian Ambassador to Ukraine Bruce Edwards; and, Project Optimism's Jenny Boymal from Melbourne.  We will have other guests beaming in and we'd love you to share your optimism and concerns.

Rough Running Order:

  • Welcome and Introduction
  • Short Panellist Speeches expressing reasons for optimism for Ukraine;
  • Everyone is welcome to express their optimism and their concerns;
  • Some meditation and poetry;
  • What are the best things we can do to help as optimists?
  • End singing a Ukrainian song.
  • Time at the end to talk and share other thoughts.
