The Music of Optimism: A Conversation Led by Kay Clancy and Adam Thompson

  • Thursday, January 27, 2022
  • 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Registration is closed

This Hour of Optimism will be led by our Queen of Optimism Music Kay Clancy with Adam Thompson, lead singer of Chocolate Starfish.

Movie directors the world over recognise the power of music to enhance our viewing experiences. Music guides our emotions - fear, joy, sadness are all heightened through carefully selected soundtracks.

We have all had the experience of feeling our toe tapping as a familiar tune plays or being unable to stop ourselves swaying or dancing. Did you know that music also has a physical effect on the body? While listening there are changes in the autonomic nervous system, which is responsible for controlling blood pressure and heartbeat, along with changes in the limbic system, which is responsible for feelings and emotions.

Adam Thompson, lead singer and songwriter of ARIA winning band Chocolate Starfish has long understood the power of music through his career that spans over 30 years in the music industry.

That same 30 years reflects his journey in optimism.  (Read More)  As Adam said to us, "Great question, Victor, because I think it's probably only in the last 10 to 20 years that I would bonafide describe myself as optimistic. And before that, I believe I was, like all of us, a work in progress, with the occasional optimistic adventure or the occasional optimistic outcome."

Join us as we explore how music can help to inspire, empower and connect us.
