Voices of Optimism

The City of Greater Bendigo in collaboration with the Centre for Optimism is launching a Voices of Optimism campaign in August to promote Greater Bendigo’s strong sense of optimism even during the most challenging of times. As part of the campaign, Centre for Optimism Director Victor Perton will present a free Virtual Café Series where special guests speak frankly about what makes them optimistic from a personal, community and business perspective and how they remain optimistic despite facing some difficult moments in their lives.

Virtual Café Series - Episode Three

Centre for Optimism Director Victor Perton presents Voices of Optimism on Thursday August 20, 2020 at 12pm – a conversation with Cathie Steele, Chair of the Directors Board at Bendigo Foodshare.

Cathie Steele is passionate about her work at Bendigo Foodshare, which helps over 12,845 central Victorians who need food relief each week. The charitable organisation rescues surplus food and distributes much needed supplies to local charities, community groups and schools in the Bendigo region and many neighbouring shires.

Cathie says she remains optimistic thanks to the dedication, compassion and kindness shared by the 200 plus volunteers at Foodshare and the recipients who possess an enormous sense of optimism and compassion for others even when they too are facing difficult times in their lives.

Victor Perton is the Director for the Centre for Optimism and founder of The Australian Leadership Project. He has written several books on optimism and is a moderator, presenter and barrister. He supports and advises Australian and global leaders with optimistic leadership advice, strategy, advocacy and crisis management.
