A commentary by Victor Perton:
"Make me a scent that evokes optimism."
That was the intriguing request Stripe Press made to Christophe Laudamiel, master perfumer at Osmo. The response is so evocative!
"Optimism?
"I would begin with something super bright, something bursting with energy.
"Think yuzu, citrus, and lemon, but with a twist. I absolutely love the scent of lime. It is so vibrant and yet surprisingly underrepresented in perfumery.
"But optimism is not just surface-level brightness. To me, it also means strength. So the base of this fragrance needs to be strong and grounded, with deep woods or warm spices.
"Some spices feel emphatic, energetic, and incredibly warm. That warmth is essential.
"Optimism feels like a big, wholehearted hug. It takes you somewhere. It opens your mind.
"I would also include abstract notes like floral ozone or nitriles, elements that carry a sense of space and lightness. These notes invite your mind to wander beyond the now.
"You do not think of the past. A scent like this makes you think toward the future."
What is your recipe for optimism?
