"For me, optimism is the endless possibilities and embracing hope no matter where you end up. The unwavering love and support of my family and the strength and energy of my friends and the community, fuel boundless optimism within me. In a world filled with complexity and uncertainty, I find peace in the endless possibilities that lie ahead. Despite the trauma and threat, I have the power to thrive and create a much better tomorrow."
That's what Afghan-Australian Sajed Abrar Timori told me when I asked him what makes him optimistic.
He came to Australia as a refugee and is now a Community Advisor at the Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture Inc and a Youth Project Officer with the Victorian Afghan Associations Network.
