Phillip Maisel's Profound Optimism

"Phillip’s main gift to us all was his profound optimism"

In the Newsletter of the Melbourne Holocaust Museum, Pauline Rockman (Co-President), Sue Hampel (Co-President) & Jayne Josem (CEO), wrote "We were saddened by the passing of Holocaust survivor Phillip Maisel OAM on 22 August, just one week after celebrating his 100th birthday. As the head of the Testimonies Project for over 30 years, Phillip contributed profoundly to preserving the voices of Melbourne-based Holocaust survivors. Phillip’s legacy will live on through the Phillip Maisel Testimony Project as well as with the personnel at the museum who share his motivation to preserve the voices of the Holocaust.

"Phillip’s main gift to us all was his profound optimism, despite everything, and it is this spirit which we will take with us to our new home, the recently rebuilt MHM."
