The Optimism in The Serenity Prayer

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.

Rob Whitley PhD says, "The serenity prayer is optimistic about the human condition, encouraging individuals to think deeply and act with resolution in the here and now, rather than wallowing in a fatalistic worldview."

Diana Raab wrote, "The Serenity Prayer can help provide solace and optimism during these times...The first step in nurturing a sense of optimism is to surrender to the numerous possibilities that abound. In our quest to do so, the Serenity Prayer is an ideal daily mantra"

Karen Bables wrote,  "The second part of this prayer is not as well-known, but it, too, leads us to hope through realistic optimism: “Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace.  Taking as He did this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it.  Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with him forever in the next.”
