A Really Optimistic Time for New Hampshire Poetry

“It’s a really optimistic time for New Hampshire poetry. New Hampshire poets are looking back, understanding that this state has this incredible, rich literary history. They have the history of Robert Frost, Donald Hall, and Sharon Olds. But I also feel there is the #creation at the moment of a more diverse and inclusive poetry community across the state that is drawing in young people. This is a state that has everything. We have mountains, we have oceans, we have these kinds of vital urban spaces. And that’s how I feel the poetry scene looks as well,” said Jennifer Militello, New Hampshire’s new poet laureate in an interview with Amanda Gokee.
