Why is the future created by **optimists**?

A delight to listen to [Gerd Leonhard](https://www.linkedin.com/feed/#) and [Mathias Sundin](https://www.linkedin.com/feed/#) in the conversation!

Gerd Leonhard is a Futurist and Mathias runs Warp News.

[Mathias](https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7009241196585775104/#) describes himself as "a fact-based **#optimist**. I'm sure you can be born as an optimist and have it in your DNA. I look at facts of the world and how the world is progressing and, and have been progressing for a hundred thousand years and especially in the last few hundred years, and especially in the last few decades, we've made enormous gains."

[Gerd](https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7009241196585775104/#) refers to Gramsci's slogan "Pessimism of the intellect, **optimism** of the will" and replies, "to which I say optimism of the **#heart**, not losing **#faith** and that this is possible."

That reminds me of [Caroline Ward](https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7009241196585775104/#)'s "optimism of the heart."
