There remains light in people and in the Bonds of Community

There remains light in people and in the bonds of community
A commentary by Victor Perton

"What makes me optimistic? I hold onto the belief that, despite rivalry, there remains light in people and in the bonds of community."

It’s early on Melbourne Cup morning, and I was reminded of that wise reflection by the resilient optimist Anup Thapa (अनुप थापा).

In the light of optimism, competition becomes a stage for connection, and every gathering holds the possibility of shared joy. Optimists do not deny the shadow; they insist that the light is always worth looking for.
