"Christine McKay, teacher at Toorak College and VCE coordinator for many years, was a true egalitarian leader: inclusive, warm, and compassionate yet always fair. She encouraged each person to be his/her own best self, leading by example and sharing wisdom and insight as she taught and mentored. Thanks to Chris, I never gave up my education in spite of being told I would never finish my schooling, and like many others have a lifelong passion for reading, writing and a commitment to community service. "
Christine McKay succumbed to pancreatic cancer on the 9th May 2013. She is remembered annually through the presentation of the Christine McKay Literature Award.
